It’s Been Awhile.

First off I guess I should say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It’s been awhile since I wrote anything so let’s just back into it shall we?

and what better way to start the new year off then with a standard free champion rotation update.

fdasfdafdafdfasfdafd

You guys know I mainly play support but honestly I’ve had one too many bad games lately so I’m starting to branch off a bit more, I’ve not really been playing bad but once I hit level 30 I got put into matches with gold and silver players a lot more than I care to say which kinda sucks but I’ve started to try more roles like adc and maybe even mid.Which brings me to my point, I like Fizz ha. I tried to play Rek’Sai too, she’s fun but I’m not a Jungler by a long shot ha.

Moving on for the next… 3 days? We have a skin and champion sale. I don’t really mention these on here because they are over so quickly but …

2014.01.06.articlebanner.champskinsale

YOU CAN BUY SONA FOR 395 RP and I have to represent my Favorite Support.

Something cool that’s happening over the next few days is Riot will be ending it’s Snowdown event and with it’s end they will be gifting mystery skins to well behaved players. To quote them.

If you haven’t received a chat restriction, ranked restriction, 14-day ban or permanent ban in 2014, and you meet the requirements to receive a Mystery Gift (you’re Level 5 or higher and there are at least 10 skins you don’t own), you’re on our list!

Which is pretty cool and best thing is, I qualify for it. woo. GIVE ME THAT FREE STUFF.

Last thing for this week is also something positive. Riot will rewarding people that buy RP with bonus RP. Starting from the 12th of January until the 18th of January:

  • 5,00 € – 880 RP (800 +40 standard bonus RP + 40 RP extra bonus RP)
  • 10,00 € – 1960 RP (1600 +180 standard bonus RP + 180 RP extra bonus RP)
  • 20,00 € – 4040 RP (3200 +420 standard bonus RP + 420 RP extra bonus RP)
  • 35,00 € – 7300 RP (5600 +850 standard bonus RP +850 RP extra bonus RP)
  • 50,00 € – 10600 RP (8000 + 1300 standard bonus RP + 1300 RP extra bonus RP)

Now that’s a little bit if good news to start off the year.

Until Next Time…

Customize ALL the Champions

First of all I would like to say sorry for the long delay in between articles. Been very busy in work. Anyways lets get down to it.

Standard new rotation post:

7524

I think Kalista is back up and working again Riot had her down for a bit because she was broken but she seems to fully functional again. I don’t think I’ll really play any of these at the moment I’ve just hit level 29 and just want to get to level 30 so I’ll be sticking to my main champions. Sona, Lux and Blitz with the occasional Miss Fortune and Lucian thrown in.

Rek’Sai is finally out so pretty much very match I’ve played recently has the standard Rek’Sai, Kalista and Warwick Line up. Also the mini map will be destroyed in her tunnel turret things and her Ultimate is pretty fun to watch when she darts from base across the map. Here’s the official spotlight video:

Besides working the only other two things I’ve been doing is watching the LCS expansion (GG Curse and Coast) they were some sick matches and then customizing champions. It’s pretty cool to do, by downloading a simple programme and following some simple-ish steps you can replace the skin files on a champion into something new. Note that only you can see the changed skin in a match you’re character will still look normal to teammates etc Still though It’s a cool little touch and there is some awesome skins to choose from. I first seen the custom skins in this video:

and by following this video:

I now have a Lux that looks like this:

OMG FF7 THE FEELS

OMG FF7 THE FEELS

So yeah for more awesome skins check out this website :Custom League of Legends Skins

That’s all for now I’m going back on the grind to reach level 30.

Until Next Time…

Gimme Yo Money!

This week in League of Legends saw the introduction of a cops and robbers style skin set which included: Captain Volibear, Constable Trundle, Pickpocket Twitch and Safe cracker Evelynn. All these skins look pretty cool but are only available until 7.59pm December 2nd… Which is.. 40 minutes from now so chances are if you are reading this you’ve missed it. Oh well, lets see what you could have had:

The Good Guys.

The Good Guys.

The Bad Guys.

The Bad Guys.

Moving on, something really interesting which a lot of users have been looking for is finally happening. The Official League of Legends Merchandise Store. Now don’t get to excited it won’t be out fully for awhile but a beta shop should be out soon but more than likely it will be after Christmas at least. They also teased a few of items that will be made available, What do you think?

Get Jinxed

Rengar

Rengar

I think the store will be a big hit and a huge success for Riot i’m just hoping for an Arcade Sona figure. Also it would be cool if Riot allowed you to use you IP to maybe buy certain items? just a though but we’ll have to see. I just hope they acknowledge the shops such as Etsy that have homemade and personal items where you can pick up some seriously great pieces of League of Legends merchandise, like this Arcade Sona

and the final part for this entry, the champion rotation for this week:

678459310-

Now even though I don’t play jungle I do know that Warwick is killing it in Jungle at the moment and needs to be balanced but please people. Jungle has changed I know this and i’m still a beginner but dam if I see another Rengar or Kha’Zix killed by a Golem or a Wolf. That’s it for now I’m off to land some sick hooks with my new favorite champion Blitzcrank:

Rek’Sai the Void Burrower

and here is a video with both abilities shown and both of her skins etc. (yes a female void)

and one final thing so this isn’t the shortest blog ever. We have two new battlecast Skins to choose from. They are Battlecast Alpha Skarner:

What’s Going On This Week?

Well it’s been a busy week in League of Legends this week, a week in which I haven’t been playing much due to work etc. (the joys) Here’s a summary of whats new and what you (and I) might have missed out on.

First things first, new champion rotation. Boom. here it is.

67532

The New Champions for the Week

Ahri, Anivia, Jarvan IV, Kog’Maw, Nocturne, Nunu, Shen, Taric, Twitch, and Vel’Koz. Personally I haven’t played a lot of these Champions but I’m most looking forward to playing Vel’Koz just because of the beautiful Purple laser he fires, also I’m going to try Jarvan just because of #SwagFlag if anyone doesn’t know what this is it’s from a some what famous Youtube Personality, The Peace Pigeon, His Casual League series with his clan ObamaCare is good for anyone wanting to watch some entertaining League Videos that aren’t to serious. Check out below.

Also this week the new champion was released, Kalista. I haven’t played her yet, probably won’t until she is free to play either ha, anyways here is her Introduction video:

AND another video this week, ANOTHER new champion already? Riot are spoiling us.

So much to look forward to coming up to the Christmas season, I hope everyone is asking for Riot Points this year because you’re going to need them to have all the newest champions. Best free to play game ever.

Lastly this week patch 4.20 went live and there is not a chance that I will be covering it all, it’s one of their largest patches yet but I will touch on a few things, well, two things. Firstly. The new Summoners Rift is live on all game modes now which suits me since I can’t join or create a Team Builder match as I get an unknown error. To repeat. Best free to play game ever. I’m not complaining, just saying. The other topic I want to talk about it this:

b7fb2fb0530712abea7948182c4c8436

Why would they do this to Sona? actually when I read that they nerfed her I thought it would be a lot worse but after playing her a few times since the patch it’s nothing too drastic so nothing to worry about. She still remains my favorite champion.

Until Next Time…

Good News Everyone.

Reading This In his Voice?

Reading This In his Voice?

As covered before the season has ended, but don’t despair in light of this Riot has taken it upon them selves to reward people who have been demonstrating positive behavior. Players who have been good will be awarded in a 4-win IP boost. To qualify for this you will have had to avoid being banned from chat or have had your account suspended in the 2014 season. According to Riot only 1% of the community received a 14 day ban or permanent ban and in a survey of 11,150 players 99.1% had a neutral or positive attitude. Now I don’t know about you but I don’t know who these people in the survey were but I have yet to come across them. It is a rare occurrence were I’ve played a game were someone hasn’t taken upon themselves to abuse the enemy team or their own team mates. To be honest as I play more if a team mate is playing bad I find myself more inclined to give out to them . But hey, I didn’t get restricted or banned so give me dat IP boost Rito,  pls.

What other good news is there in League of Legends this week? well. New Summoners Rift has gone up in both bot matches and team builder matches and my god it is beautiful, It looks like a painting. With upgraded visuals and monsters it is most definitely a step in the right direction. Look at the screenshot below. Magnificent. My only worry is that my laptop will not to able to keep up these tremendous updates but only time will tell.

It's Looking Well

It’s Looking Well

Finally for today, on a more personal note me and my friend are going to start making video/edits for YouTube. Great Right? yes it is, the only problem is I can’t find a stable recording program for my laptop. The poor thing. At the moment I’ve downloaded LOLReplay which hasn’t yet really worked for me and FRAPS which is only recording 30 seconds at a time so not the best start but I will prevail  and so will my laptop.

Until Next Time…

Lets Learn Some More, Also Lets Rant A Little.

So I have been playing this game now for a few months (around the time Azir came out) and it only seems to be growing more and more on me. I know that this season has ended and never mind grinding to get to gold or platinum I managed to make it to level 24. success. ha I didn’t really have any ambition to get to ranked I’m just happy playing normal matches until the next season begins.

As mentioned before for the first few levels you can only play against the bots, something which, although good. After awhile you can be began to predict the champions that will be used and the plays they will use. Things get different a lot quicker once you play against other people and this means learning a whole lot more tactics, for example in a bot game you would usually just wait at the turret for minions to spawn, maybe do a dance.simple.

When it comes to a real game you have invading which is pushing up into enemy bushes without being seen leading to a surprise attack or helping the jungler take red/blue buff…. wait red and blue buffs?

Well, within in each jungle on each side are neutral monsters. The Ancient Golem and The Lizard Elder.

AncientGolem

Ancient Golem

Lizard_Elder

Lizard Elder

The ancient Golem is often just called ‘Blue Buff’,as killing it will result in a blue effect ring that will be around your champion. Upon killing it you will have increased mana regeneration/energy and cool down reduction. Alternatively killing the Lizard Elder grants a red effect around your champion so is called ‘Red Buff’ and grants bonus true damage and slows enemies for 3 seconds. Got It? because there is still loads more aspects of the game to cover.. just not today.

Ok, so at level 24 now I have a bit of experience under my belt and I found this picture on Twitter that literally sums up what playing League of Legends is like…

All To True.

All To True.

This picture is all to accurate. Playing by myself with four other randomers does have it’s pro’s mainly that i’ll be matched with people at my own skill level (fair) whereas If i play with my friends they are all level 30 ranked Gold etc which means we  get put into matches with others of the same skill level (unfair for me.)

However saying that, No matter how good you play if you’re team isn’t good. You’ll lose. That’s it. League of Legends is very much a team game and it is important that everyone holds their own otherwise cracks will appear that the enemy will exploit and dear god help you if you are the weak link. One other thing you learn very quickly is that the league community is ruthless and that’s putting it nicely ha. The in game chat can be flooded with abusive messages aimed in your direction.

Scrap that, I don’t want to play with random people that will let me down. My trusted friends will lead me to victory? we get on well, we can chat as we play, what could go wrong?……… everything. ha and something else I’ve learned being a support is that EVERYTHING IS YOUR FAULT. Take the adc farm, your fault. Take their kill, your fault. Don’t save them when they rush into a team fight, your fault. Then when you save your allies, heal them? take a death so they can escape. No praise. It’s a tough gig. So even when you team up with your friends it doesn’t mean it will be all smooth sailing.

I think that’s enough for today. We learned about buff’s and I had a little rant about how I need to be appreciated more. GG.

Until Next Time..

Lets Play!

So far we’ve covered my history with consoles and also the basic premise for playing the actual game but what about how I play the game?

I play on the EUW servers (European West Servers) and I usually take up the role of support. I was kind of lucky that when I started playing I had a few friends to teach me the ways of League and as such two of us going bot lane made sense and my friend being better than me took on the role of ADC, (Attack Damage Carry) the role of the adc is to farm the minions, get the gold and kill the opposing bot lane champions. So basically the role of support is to … well support their adc. This means stopping the enemy from pushing up the lane to much and generally attacking them to keep them back but not killing them, oh god don’t kill them your adc will flip if you kill steal. Where ever your adc goes, the support will follow. Like  a piece of gum stuck on a shoe don’t leave your team mates side.

For the first few levels that you play you only have the option to play against computer controlled champions or bots.(not to be confused with bot lane.) Although they are no push overs playing this way at first is a good way to introduce you to the mechanics of them the game. It also gives you time to figure out what play style suits you as well as giving you a chance to try out various champions.

So, What are my champions?

At the moment my two go-to champions are Lux and Sona. Without a shadow of a doubt these are my most two played champions.

lux_and_sona_by_xxg0dofcha0sxx-d63sdnt

Lux was one of the first champions I ever used and I learned how to use her a lot easier and more effectively than say, Jinx and other champions I tried at the start. She is also a very good support character as she has ranged attacks that can both stun (Q) and deal damage (E) and her W is shield that protects any allies it comes in contact with, very handy if you need to help out your adc. What makes Lux so fun for me to play with personally is her Ultimate move (R) called the Final Spark. This essentially is a laser beam she fires and it has a lot of range,  a lot of damage and best of it a very short cool down rate. By end game you can be firing this thing off very 30 seconds which makes for a whole lot of fun.

Moving onto Sona then I’ve only recently starting playing her and honestly there’s only two reasons why.

  • She’s a support.
  • Her arcade skin is so freeking cool!
I mean look how cool this is..

I mean look how cool this is..

I’m a sucker for 8 bit/ arcade stuff like this and when I seen this skin I just had to have it. Luckily though Sona is an awesome support and like Lux her abilities are very good at helping out team mates. Her Q delivers a hit to Two nearby enemies, her W gives a health boost to you and surrounding allies, her E gives a speed boost to you and surrounding allies and her Ultimate (R) Crescendo stuns the enemies it hits and causes them to dance, yes Dance. Not only is it strong move, it’s also awesome to watch.

I think that’s enough for today’s blog, To read more into Lux and Sona check the links below:

So What Is League of Legends?

League of Legends is put simply. VERY addictive, and i’m not the only one who thinks so. Since its release 2009 it has grown massively and as of January of this year it has a reported 27 million users active every month and at least 27 million users per day. Not bad for a free-to-play game if you ask me.

So, what do? the most played game mode is the classic mode on the map Summoner Rift which sees your team of 5 champions face off against an opposing team of 5 players or computer controlled bots with the goal being to destroy the enemy Nexus.

Below is a quick over view of the map and it’s sections consisting of Top lane, Mid Lane, Bot lane and the Jungle Area.

Summoner's rift

Each Champion takes on a role within the team and the standard layout is:

  • 1 champion Top
  • 1 champion Mid
  • 2 champions Bot
  • and the last in the jungle.

In each of the lanes minions from the enemy team travel down the lanes and killing these gives you XP to rank up your champion and within the jungle are other monsters that do this and more.

Wait.. what is a champion?

there’s so much to cover ha. your character, or champion as they are called is who you control and with over 120 to choose from you’ve certainly got a selection. Each character has a different characteristics such as tank, supp , mage etc. and each champion comes with its own set of skills and abilities. Certain champions are also more suited to different positions on the map.

Ok, so that is the map and characters done. Now once the match starts like I said you take up a position and kill or “farm” gold from the minions or by killing an enemy champion. This gold will allow you to purchase weapons, health and other items in the shop to further increase the effectiveness of your champion.

Progressing up or down the map depending on what side you start on you will encounter turrets that will very quickly kill you. allowing your minions in first while you attack it is the most effective way of taking them down.

As the game progresses and you level up more abilities will become available to you either Q, W, E, as these are the buttons you use to attack etc, upon reaching level 6 you can get R, you ultimate attack. Each of these have cool downs so you can’t use them all the time and they can use energy/mana which can run out making sure you use them at the best of times to defeat an enemy.

You also have to spells to cast. D and F on your keyboard these spells include flash (move in a certain direction… well in a flash) others include heal and ghost.

There is still so much more to talk about such as dragons, barons and buffs, but I think this post is long enough for today some I’m going to leave it that for now.

Until next time…..
